JANESVILLE — A 23-year-old Janesville man is facing a series of felony charges related to a high-speed pursuit he led police on, in an alleged stolen car, on Jan. 26.
Daren Taber, who is listed as homeless in a criminal complaint, faces one felony count of operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, one felony count of attempting to flee or elude an officer, and one felony count of second degree recklessly endangering safety.
According to the complaint: Around 11 p.m. on Jan. 26, Rock County Dispatch was alerted that the South Beloit Police Department was actively pursuing a possibly stolen vehicle that was now headed northbound on I-39/90. Beloit police got involved as the driver continued onto County Highway G and then onto U.S. Highway 11, reaching up to an estimated 105 miles per hour on Highway 11 and driving through a red light. The driver then entered the city of Janesville, driving northbound on Wright Road at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour and then driving through another red light at N. Wright Road and Humes Road.
