New Republic library opens to the public

REPUBLIC, Mo. — The new and expanded Republic Branch Library opened its doors Monday morning after around a year of construction.

The project broke ground in January 2025 next to the former library branch on 921 N. Lindsey Ave.

The Springfield-Greene County Library District says the new library is double the size of the old branch, with decor that brings the outdoors inside and emphasizes nature. The library also includes dedicated children and teen sections, a Business Connect Center, a 150-seat community room, a walking path and a Maker Space.

The new Republic Branch Library will be open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The library’s drive-thru window will open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. 10 new employees were also added to the new building…
