Collinsville City Council Approves Haven Hills Project on Reese Drive Despite Petition Drive by Neighbors

The Collinsville City Council meeting began at 6:30 Tuesday, January 27, with an opening prayer led by Pastor Ron Habermehl from North Smoke Church.

The meeting began with Ordinance Rezoning presented by Kaitlyn Rice, for property owned by Osborn Development LLC from “R-3” Multi-Family Residential to “P-R-3” Planned Multi-Family Residential (Haven Hills). Along with this presentation was a petition signed by 126 people who live near and around the desired area. The undersigned residents and concerned citizens of Collinsville, Illinois, stated, “They are calling on the Collinsville, Illinois, Planning Commission to deny the rezoning and development plans for the above Haven Hills from R-3 Multi-Family to P-R-3 Planned Multi-Family District, total site area 18.6 acres”.

In contrast, the city staff finds the proposed development and public improvements to be a gain for the community. It will improve connectivity from the top of the bluff to the rest of the city of Collinsville. Residents were worried about what the widening or improvements to Reese Drive would mean to their properties. Mayor Jeff Stehman asked Rice “to clarify for the public that the developer is willing to dedicate 15 feet on their side so as not to impact property owners.”…
