Poudre Fire Rescues Dog From Icy Pond in Fort Collins

Here’s a shining example of why you should never, ever venture onto the ice of any frozen pond across Northern Colorado…

This week a dog was rescued from a pond in South Fort Collins, near Harmony Road, by a crew from the Poudre Fire Authority.

The call came in from multiple good samaritans that a medium to large dog was in the water, stuck in a hole in the ice, struggling to stay afloat and unable to pull itself back onto the ice and out of the water. Several bystanders were calling the dog, hoping they could coax it out by the time emergency responders arrived…
