A major regional transit initiative that could reshape how Longmont residents travel to Boulder, Denver and surrounding communities took a step forward this week as the Denver Regional Council of Governments launched an 18-month planning effort aimed at accelerating Bus Rapid Transit implementation across the metro area.
The Advancing BRT Implementation Project is funded by a $1 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Build America Bureau. The effort will update cost estimates, refine design standards and develop funding strategies for several proposed BRT corridors, including the Colorado Highway 119 corridor that connects Longmont to Interstate 25.
