Hochul challenger selects India Walton as running mate

ALBANY, New York — Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado has selected former Buffalo mayoral candidate India Walton as his running mate in his long-shot primary bid against incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul, two people with knowledge of the decision said.

Delgado, a Hudson Valley Democrat, is turning to Walton — a member of the Democratic Socialists of America who unexpectedly defeated then-Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown in the 2021 Democratic primary — to help shore up his left flank. Walton lost the general election after Brown launched a write-in campaign.
