An 83-year-old man in Ohio will likely spend the remainder of his days behind bars for killing a 61-year-old Uber driver in front of his home, wrongly believing she was trying to rob him — when both the killer and his victim were actually duped by the same phone scammers.
Clark County Common Pleas Judge Douglas M. Rastatter on Monday morning ordered William J. Brock to serve 21 years to life in a state correctional facility, court records reviewed by Law&Crime show. The sentence comes after a jury found Brock guilty on all charges he faced, including felony murder, felony assault, and kidnapping in the 2024 fatal shooting of Loletha Hall. Brock will serve 15 years to life for the murder charge followed by six years for firearms specifications, to be served consecutively.
