These Memphis area schools are closed Wednesday due to road conditions

Many Memphis area public schools are out for an eighth day in a row due to inclement weather.

Memphis area public schools have canceled classes for the last week, due to a winter storm that caused snow and ice to build up on the roads. The last day many public school students were in the classroom was Jan. 23.

The snow and sleet that covered Memphis over the weekend have begun to melt, albeit slowly, and have often refrozen overnight, making it difficult for smaller and shady roads to become clear. The Memphis area did not get above freezing temperatures for multiple days, so the snow on the ground and on roadways has stuck…
