BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Jury selection is concluding in the trial of Lanaya Cardwell, who faces charges in the 2021 death of her 2-year-old daughter.
Cardwell is charged with second-degree cruelty to juveniles in connection with the death of Neveah Allen. The child was reported missing in 2021 before her body was found in a wooded area of Mississippi.
Jury selection entered its second day on Tuesday at the 19th Judicial District Court. Judge Fred Crifasi and the legal teams questioned multiple panels of potential jurors to identify those who could remain unbiased.
