Milwaukee Firefighter Suffers Minor Burns in Brave Rescue of Eight, Including Infants, from Apartment Blaze

Yesterday morning, a Milwaukee firefighter sustained minor burn injuries while performing rescues during a structure fire in a multi-family building. According to Daily Dispatch, the incident occurred on the 6600 block of N. 77th Street, where firefighters encountered a blaze in the first-floor common hallway, leading to several people, including two infants, being saved from the perilous situation.

Residents of the affected building, engulfed by flames and choked by smoke, found themselves trapped, with one saying, “There was lots of fire and you couldn’t see anything. We just heard the alarms,” as reported by TMJ4. The severity of the situation necessitated a second alarm and support from neighboring fire units, including those from Wauwatosa and the North Shore, was called to the scene, and a county bus was requested to provide temporary shelter for those displaced by the fire out of the cold.

A total of eight civilians were pulled to safety. “My neighbors were screaming to take out their baby and the neighbors in the property next door forced their way in and they got the baby out and got the kids out through the window,” one resident recounted in an interview with TMJ4.
