Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association emphasizes unity, collaboration and shared responsibility

ST. PAUL (KFGO/KVRR) — In the wake of protests over ICE actions in the Twin Cities and across Minnesota, the state’s Sheriff’s Association has issued a statement encouraging unity, collaboration and shared responsibility.

The association says it has been engaged in numerous discussions and meetings with local, state, and federal leaders to identify constructive and sustainable paths forward.  It believes when agencies and communities work together, understanding and progress follow.

Several sheriff’s offices across the country have restricted working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office in Minneapolis does not cooperate with ICE on civil immigration enforcement. They only comply if a warrant is signed by a judge…
