ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – When Albuquerque loosened its restrictions on e-scooter rentals, three companies expanded their operations to the city. But more than a year later, only one is left. Around Nob Hill and downtown Albuquerque, scooters are scattered around many corners. “They’ve been super useful to get back and forth from school or even just around town, especially downtown and things,” said James Loomis, a daily user of e-scooters.

The scooters are being used a good amount, according to data from Albuquerque’s Planning Department that oversees the Shared Active Transportation Program, which includes e-scooters. From March to December, the city averaged between 20,000 and 30,000 rides a month. Initially, Albuquerque had three e-scooter companies: Lime, Spin, and Beam. But Spin took out their scooters last July, and now Beam stopped servicing the city this past December. The city said those companies opted to leave because they weren’t getting as many riders.
The data shows that the last remaining company, Lime, had 22,906 rides in December. “We’re the only provider left on the ground in Albuquerque for 2026.
