Amsterdam, NY (WRGB) — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred in Amsterdam last summer, according to the Amsterdam Police Department.
Police say 47-year-old Erick Vazquez-Sifontes was charged with Assault in the First Degree, a Class C felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
The charges stem from an incident on July 20, 2025, when officers responded to the area of Elizabeth Street for reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, patrol officers located a male victim who had been stabbed in the stomach.
