1 arrested for pouring gas onto fire that spread, burning man in Taft: police

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman has been arrested for allegedly pouring gas onto a fire that spread and severely burned a man at a gathering last month in Taft.

Magdalena Junes was arrested Feb. 3 by Taft police under suspicion of unlawfully causing a fire resulting in serious bodily injury.

The incident happened on Jan. 22 at a home in the 700 block of Kern Street in Taft, police said. A man suffered severe burns after his clothing caught fire during a gathering.

Police interviewed multiple witnesses of the incident who indicated to police that gasoline was not poured directly onto the victim, but instead poured gas from a gas can “in a manner that caused the flames to ignite the victim.”…
