Western NC man sentenced for drug trafficking

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) – A man will spend up to nine years in prison after he pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and possession of a “ghost gun.”

According to the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office, Ramond Doquis Lester was sentenced to 87 – 117 months in state prisons after he pleaded guilty to charges of trafficking in opium or heroin, possession of a firearm by a felon and being a habitual felon.

The district attorney’s office said the charges stem from an August 2025 traffic stop, when Asheville police officers stopped a vehicle Lester was driving. At the time of the stop Lester reportedly had outstanding warrants for probation violations…
