AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – United Way of the CSRA received a $15,000 grant to help local elementary students get to school, thanks to the Community Foundation for the CSRA.
In a press release sent Tuesday, the funds, provided by the Community Grants Program, will support a collaborative program with the effort of reducing chronic absenteeism across three local schools.
According to the organization, the program will operate at Wilkinson Gardens Elementary, Richmond Hill Elementary, and Barton Chapel Elementary. The initiative will work to identify family-specific causes for chronic absenteeism and provide the necessary community services to address it, under the oversight of United Way AmeriCorps VISTAs…
