CINCINNATI (Cincinnati Business Courier) – A Tri-State manufacturer has been awarded a defense contract worth nearly $500 million.
On Jan. 29, the U.S. Department of Defense announced that Forest Park-based Faxon Machining, which is located at 11101 Adwood Drive, will receive $473.23 million to produce bomb bodies and containers.
The bomb bodies portion of the contract will be for what is called a Bomb Live Unit 136/B, which is a high-fragmented bomb body that weighs 2,000 pounds. The BLU-136/B is designed to rain down metal fragments on enemy forces as a replacement for cluster munitions, without leaving behind unexploded ordnance, according to a 2019 report from industry publication Defense Blog.…
