CHATTANOOGA, Tenn — He stabbed a woman to death, stuffed her body in a suitcase and left that suitcase on the banks of the Tennessee River.
Now, the man convicted of Jasmine Pace’s brutal murder, who’s now serving a life sentence for that crime, is asking the court for another chance at acquital.
On Wednesday, a hearing on a motion for a new trial in the case of Jason Chen is scheduled for April 10, according to the Hamilton County Criminal Court Clerk’s Office.
Chen was sentenced to life in prison last year after a jury picked from Williamson County found him guilty in the killing of Jasmine Pace. Jurors reached their verdict in less than an hour.
Chen’s defense previously filed a motion requesting a new trial, arguing the verdict was contrary to the evidence and that the evidence presented was insufficient. Court officials say no new motions have been filed since then…
