Osteria 166 Closing Their Doors & Moving To New Home With Historic Roots

Osteria 166 has been in the process of transitioning from what they used to be to what they hope to be for awhile now. But their latest step will give them a chance to bring life to a building with historic roots in Buffalo.

Osteria 166 is transitioning to something new

In May last year we told you that Osteria 166 was going to stop serving dinners at the end of the summer. Their plan was to simply rent the entire restaurant out for special occasions, but then move most of their operations to the old Knights of Columbus Hall at 1841 Whitehaven Blvd. They were converting that space into an event center and running “Occasions by Osteria” out of that building.

Now, it looks as though plans are changing again.

Osteria 166 will be moving to the old Ulrich’s Tavern

Nick Pitillo, owner of Osteria 166 has said in the past that having an a la carte restaurant in downtown Buffalo wasn’t sustainable because there weren’t enough people to patronize it. Now, they will be moving to the old Ulrich’s Tavern at 674 Ellicott Street and offering casual lunch service and grab-and-go meals for people as excitement grows around the UB Medical Campus.

“This is an exciting opportunity for us to continue what we started together 13 years ago inside one of Buffalo’s oldest and most historic locations. There is so much energy around the Medical Campus. We are excited to continue to be part of downtown’s evolution and to start an exciting new chapter based on the same vision and values that have been the foundation of Osteria from the day we opened.” – Nick Pitillo, owner of Osteria 166…
