The Road to 250: America’s Story to continue this week with ‘American Society’

CLARKSVILLE, TN – Our community-wide celebration of “The Road to 250,” America’s 250th birthday, is about to renew the telling of our nation’s history in a series of dramatic, thematic readings.

Dr. Cate LiaBraaten of the APSU Department of History and Philosophy will guide us through the complex history of the difficulties our diverse population had to overcome in order to secure the rights our Founding Fathers promised to all “men” and build successful lives and communities. Along the way, Dr. LiaBraaten will address gender and racial issues during key epochs such as Reconstruction, rapid industrialization, the huge influx of immigrants and the expansion of American territory…
