Lexington provides answers on snow removal contractors

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – After more than a week of questions and frustration about the state of Lexington roads, the city is providing answers about how it has been working with outside contractors to remove snow and ice.

Susan Straub, a spokesperson for the mayor’s office, says the city works regularly with ATS Construction in storms like Winter Storm Fern. She says they have four crews working for the city right now at a cost of $25,000 per day, and that the city is spending a total of $60,000 for the time they could get from ATS this week.

Straub said the city could have used the services as early as Sunday, Jan. 25, but there wasn’t enough snowfall on the ground to use ATS’ graders…
