Health inspectors have shut down dozens of restaurants and markets in Los Angeles County since the start of the year, most of them due to “vermin infestation” — meaning bugs or rodents were found inside.
County health officials focus inspections on food temperatures, food-handling practices, employee hygiene, facility cleanliness and keeping establishments free of vermin. Most of the closures are temporary and last only a few days until the businesses remedy the issues. Others remain closed indefinitely.
