VERO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A man is behind bars after his grandmother’s body was found inside the home they shared.
According to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, February 2, at approximately 8:15 p.m., deputies conducted a welfare check at an apartment on Fairway Circle in Vero Beach. Deputies say they were asked to check on a 76-year-old woman, who the sheriff’s office won’t be identifying at this time. Deputies say no one had heard from the woman since Sunday.
When deputies arrived at the home, they encountered the elderly woman’s grandson, Nicholas Ivey, in the parking lot. Deputies say he made suspicious statements indicating his grandmother was dead inside the home…
