Man wanted for attempted homicide, other charges after Murfreesboro shooting

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Murfreesboro Police Department is searching for a man facing several charges in connection with a shooting that occurred on Sulphur Springs Road over the weekend.

According to the MPD, warrants have been issued for 24-year-old Dumonta Lamont Burns on the following charges: attempted first-degree homicide, reckless endangerment (discharging a firearm from within a motor vehicle), and two counts of aggravated assault.

The shooting was the result of an altercation between family members, officials said.

Police said they responded to a shooting on Sunday, Feb. 1, just before 6 a.m., in the 1600 block of Sulphur Springs Road.

A 25-year-old man was shot and was taken to a local hospital, where authorities said he was in stable condition.
