SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – The Sarasota County Commission voted Jan. 27 to approve a commercial water-based charter boat and tour operations pilot permit program that will regulate charter operations at county boat ramps.
The program applies to all charter operations currently using county boat ramps, including two in the north county zone: Nora Patterson Bay Island Park and Turtle Beach Park boat ramp. South county zone ramps include Indian Mound Park and Marina Park and boat ramp, along with Nokomis Beach boat ramp.
The county will issue 100 total permits across the zones. Bids for permits start at $1,200 per permit per year with a one-year term. Permit holders may be able to renew after the first year…
