South Avenue fire displaces 20 units, sends one person to hospital for burn injuries

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A fire on South Avenue in Syracuse on Wednesday, February 4, displaced tenants in 20 units and sent one person to the hospital with burn injuries.

At 5:59 p.m., Syracuse Firefighters were dispatched by the Onondaga County 911 Center to a reported structure fire in the 100-block of South Avenue. Crews from Station 3 on Bellevue Avenue arrived on scene to find a 2 1/2-story apartment building with nothing visible from the street. Firefighters quickly located an occupant who had exited the building suffering from apparent burn injuries.
