Ventura County’s biggest brewery laid off about 15 employees in late January, the latest craft brewer to cut back amid a nationwide, yearslong slowdown in the industry.
Topa Topa Brewing Co., which has its brewery in Ventura and five taprooms between Camarillo and Santa Barbara, made the job cuts on Jan. 27, said Jack Dyer, the company’s CEO and co-founder. The company now has about 75 employees, 26 of them full-time, he said.
The positions eliminated were in the taprooms, corporate office and warehouse and production facility, Dyer said. Each taproom had two supervisors, and those 10 employees all lost their full-time management jobs and were offered part-time jobs behind the bar…
