A Cedar Rapids Man Faces A Felony Assault Charge For Injuring A Newton Police Officer

A twenty-eight-year-old Cedar Rapids man has been charged with a felony for injuring a Newton Police Officer on Sunday. Newton Police say the officer, and others, responded to an 8 a.m. report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the backyard of a residence on West 4th Street South. Upon arrival, officers encountered Jwan Trevelle Roush in a locked vehicle. According to the arrest report, Roush refused to identify himself and would not get out of the car. When officers were able to take him into custody, Roush allegedly kicked at them, causing an officer to be injured. Police claim the Cedar Rapids man also possessed methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
