DES MOINES, Iowa — A crash caused a significant backup on Interstate 235.
At around 8:30 a.m., the Iowa Department of Transportation reported a crash on eastbound I-235 near the 56th Street Bridge. DOT cameras showed one vehicle on its side and the two left lanes blocked.

The crash caused a significant traffic backup, with cars piling up near the 22nd Street exit. The DOT 511 website reported a nearly 20-minute delay for eastbound traffic. At around 9 a.m., the DOT reported that the left lanes had been reopened.
