LAFAYETTE, LA. (KLFY) — Cruz Wallace, a 2-year-old boy with hemophilia, is recovering from surgery following a nationwide call to action that prompted hundreds of thousands of people to donate blood. The surge in donors has allowed the Our Lady of Lourdes Blood Center to stock up on its inventory after receiving calls from more than 30 states.
The call to action was issued last week due to Cruz’s constant need for O-negative blood. The massive response from the public ensured that enough blood was on hand for his surgery, which was completed without complications.
