Bristol’s Joe Caminiti, 101, to attend national Iwo Jima remembrance in Washington

Joe Caminiti, a 101-year-old Bristol resident and survivor of the Battle of Iwo Jima, will travel to Washington, D.C., to take part in the National Iwo Jima Remembrance during the 81st Iwo Jima Reunion, scheduled for the weekend of Feb. 20.

Caminiti enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on his 18th birthday, leaving school to serve his country during World War II — at an age when many young adults today are still deciding their future paths…
