Weld County’s road miles down slightly as county grows

With the county’s growth, the total miles the county maintains have decreased slightly, which impacts improvements and annexations, according to a January 30 news release.

The county currently maintains 2,858.40 miles of roads, a reduction of about 10 miles from a year ago. With the new figures, the Weld County Board of Commissioners approved the 2025 Highway Users Tax Fund Annual Mileage and Certification Report on Wednesday, January 29, according to officials.

The report will be submitted to the Colorado Department of Transportation, which will use it to determine how much Highway Users Tax Fund money the county will receive in 2026 to maintain its roads, according to officials
