Colorado man pleads guilty to attempting to join ISIS

DENVER (KDVR) — A man from Colorado pleaded guilty in federal court on Friday after being arrested in 2023 for allegedly attempting to flee the United States to join ISIS, according to a spokesperson from the FBI Denver Field Office.

On Dec. 18, 2023, then 18-year-old Humzah Mashkoor from Westminster was arrested at Denver International Airport while attempting to board a flight to the United Arab Emirates, where he intended to stay until traveling to Syria or Afghanistan to serve as a fighter for ISIS, according to an affidavit supporting a criminal complaint.
