Tempe considers developer incentives for more affordable housing

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — The City of Tempe is considering a voluntary bonus program to incentivize developers to build affordable housing by offering increased density, increased building height and reduced parking requirements.

The proposed program would reward developers with bonuses in exchange for designating a certain amount of units for affordable housing. Eligible sites would be selected by the city from areas already zoned for multi-family, commercial or industrial use.

The program would not be available for single-family areas. The affordability of the units would be guaranteed for 30 years…
