Almost 200 kids are warmer during these chilly Valley days, thanks to the residents of Holiday Village Manufactured Home Community in Mesa.
They gathered last weekend at the community’s ballroom to put the finishing touches on 196 handmade quilts for AZ Blankets 4 Kids, a Valley nonprofit whose mission is “to provide comforting blankets and quilts to seriously ill and traumatized children in our community” through several dozen charitable groups and government agencies.
Holiday Village spokeswoman Nancy Neill said the Jan. 24 project “was a huge success, with 40 blankets completed by Holiday Village’s quilting group, 96 completed by Holiday Village residents Janice Denny and Kathy Albertson, and an additional 60 blankets made throughout the day to make the total of 196 blankets.”
Representatives from AZ Blankets 4 Kids were on hand to collect the quilts…
