Parents, community members discuss ASDB relocation as campus dorms set to close

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – As the board of the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind plans to meet in Phoenix to vote on whether its Tucson campus will be relocated to Copper Creek Elementary in Oro Valley, parents and community members attended a meeting to discuss community concerns.

Many questions remain on whether the ASDB can sustain the necessary services for its students if the campus is relocated.

“There is a reason this school has been here as long as it has because of the passionate people that have worked here,” one person said during the meeting. “(They) have gone to school here, that have graduated from here and are all sitting in this room right here.”
