The Washington Post will reportedly eliminate its sports section, make deep cuts to its local coverage, and get rid of its books section on Wednesday, amid layoffs that may hit 300 people across departments.
The downsizing represents “yet another blow to a newsroom that has already been pushed to its limits and a disservice to the readers who rely on The Post for rigorous, independent journalism,” the Washington-Baltimore News Guild said in a statement.
