1 year after Charlotte-based crew killed in DC mid-air collision involving Black Hawk: Where things stand

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Last week marked one year since a deadly mid-air collision involving an American Airlines plane, operated by a Charlotte-based flight crew, and a United States Army Black Hawk helicopter, killing a total of 67 people over the Potomac River.

Many still have questions about what happened, and the road ahead still linger.

On Jan. 29, 2025 PSA Flight 5342 was around 300 feet away from landing at Reagan National Airport in Washington D.C. when it collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter.

The collision sent both the plane and Black Hawk into the icy waters of the Potomac River…
