1 found dead in Cincinnati high-rise fire

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – One person was found dead in an apartment that caught on fire at a Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority high-rise building early Thursday, fire officials tell FOX19 NOW.

The fire was reported at 2:39 a.m. at Pinecrest, 3951 W. 8th Street in West Price Hill.

The first arriving firefighters found smoke on the eighth and ninth floors, the building’s fire alarm screeching and residents self-evacuating, according to Cincinnati Assistant Fire Chief Matt Flagler.

Firefighters told some residents to remain in their apartments, or “shelter in place,” for their own safety…
