Texas veteran’s protest of leading Houston-area builder David Weekley offers lessons for homebuyers

Raymond Barlowe donned his Army uniform on a recent Wednesday, packed his Army flag and a homemade sign, and made the four-hour drive from his house near Dallas to the headquarters of the Houston-based company, David Weekley Homes, that built the house.

There, he unpacked his flag and his sign: “David Weekley sold me a lemon.”

Barlowe said he was at his wits’ end. Shortly after moving in, he noticed his doors and windows sticking and his walls and foundation cracking. He said he’s had to seek medical assistance in order to sleep at night…
