Thousands of tornado-damaged homes do not have an application for private property assistance on file with St. Louis’ recovery office. Officials urge homeowners with properties in need of demolition or debris removal to apply for assistance by Feb. 14.
City officials have estimated there are over 7,300 properties damaged by the May 2025 tornado, and nearly 5,000 of those properties have not signed up for assistance with STL Recovers, the city’s disaster office.
The city’s Private Property Assistance Program includes several initiatives to help with home repairs, structure stabilization, demolition and debris removal. City officials plan to begin debris removal and demolitions this month and ramp up their efforts in March…
