After hearing from many members of the public Monday evening, with many landlords expressing concerns about additional cost burden and tenants asking for help to stay in their housing, the Spokane City Council passed an eviction prevention law that is scheduled to take effect in June. The “Pathways to Eviction Prevention” ordinance requires landlords to provide information on public eviction prevention funding and legal assistance multiple times during their relationship with tenants, including at lease signing, when rent is increased, and when a 14-day pay or vacate notice is given.
