Bus routes expansions could lead to 24 hour availability for airports

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Getting to that red-eye flight could be a lot easier in the coming months.

Bus fare increases get the green light from Honolulu City Council

During a testimony before the City Council on Wednesday, Feb. 4, Jon Nouchi, Department of Transportation Services Deputy Director, spoke about a new project in the works.

“A lot of transit agencies chase this holy grail of providing services to airports 24 hours a day, and we’re going to get there, I believe, either in March or in June,” said Nouchi.

In the plan that DTS envisions, three current bus routes, the 40, 42, and 51, which go to Makaha, Ewa Beach, and Central Oahu, respectively, would bring riders to the airport during times the W line and Skyline stop operating…
