Birmingham Awards $100,000 In Grant Funding To Urban Farming Groups

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — Ten Birmingham urban farming groups were awarded $10,000 each in funding as part of the Urban Farmer Grant Program, according to the city of Birmingham.

The city announced the awards in partnership with Jones Valley Teaching Farm.

The city said the funds were received through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and is designated to provide financial relief. The funds are expected to be used to address what the city described as “operational shortfalls that urban farming entities experienced due to the pandemic, and before that, longstanding inequities in economic opportunity and investment.”…
