BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man from Genesee County pleaded guilty after he stole multiple gift cards from the mail over the summer while working with the United States Postal Service, the U.S. Attorney’s office announced Thursday.
Matthew Hurlburt, 25, of Pavilion, stole a $100 Visa gift card from a birthday card while he was assigned to the Perry Post Office in Wyoming County. He allegedly used the money at a gas station and a restaurant in July 2025.
A month later, investigators used a fake piece of mail containing a $25 Visa gift card to test Hurlburt. With an insufficient address, the mail should have been returned to the post office but instead, Hurlburt used the funds at two more gas stations…
