Feds: Columbus men filed fake returns, recruited others in $17M COVID scam

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Four Columbus men have plead guilty in federal court regarding a pandemic-related tax fraud investigation.

Christopher Upshaw, aka “Troub,” 26, pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud on Feb. 4.

In addition, 34-year-old Johnathon Swift, aka “JB or John Boy”; 41-year-old Dontavis Williams, aka “Turk”; and 37-year-old Donterious Sparks pleaded guilty to the same charge on Jan. 21…
