FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A man found by Fort Wayne police with more than two pounds of fentanyl in his car was sentenced Wednesday in federal court.
A judge in U.S. District Court handed 39-year-old Michael Orvas Beers nearly 16 years in prison. A longer sentence may be in the works, as court records show Beers has two other separate drug charges against him in Allen and Steuben counties.
In October 2024, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department found Beers passed out in a parked car with the engine running in the lot of a gas station. Among the evidence investigators found in the car, many bags of fentanyl were confiscated as well as 10 grams of marijuana and a digital scale that tested positive for cocaine.
