Measles outbreak reported in Duval County. See confirmed cases, risks

The number of measles cases in Florida is rising, but the state’s disease tracking system appears to be lagging behind the spread, having only reported seven despite outbreaks in multiple counties.

Statewide, Collier County has reported the highest number of measles cases so far, with at least 12 confirmed infections. Those cases are believed to be centered at Ave Maria University, according to Anthony Musingo, a certified physician assistant at the Mater Dei Clinic in Ave Maria.

Closer to home, Florida Department of Health data shows that four measles cases have been reported in Duval County already in 2026. Baptist Health confirmed that at least two of the Jacksonville cases involve pediatric patients from the same household.
