TALLADEGA, Ala. (WIAT) — There is a new campaign urging the Alabama governor to grant clemency to death row inmate Charles “Sonny” Burton.
Burton was sentenced to death 34 years ago for his role in a 1991 robbery at a Talladega AutoZone that resulted in the murder of Doug Battles.
According to his spiritual advisor, Burton doesn’t deny his role in the robbery. He and the state of Alabama agree that he didn’t kill anyone…
