Janet Jackson linked to rifle shooting in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – Newark officials are asking for the public’s help locating a 38-year-old woman wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting investigation on South 7th Street.

Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. identified the woman as Janet Jackson, who detectives are seeking following a gunfire incident reported the morning of January 31.

According to officials, the city’s ShotSpotter system detected gunfire at about 9:12 a.m. in the 100 block of South 7th Street. Surveillance video from the area shows a Black male exiting the front porch of a residence holding a black rifle and firing one round at the property…
